This Valley of Glaciers experience begins with a private pick-up from your Anchorage hotel or lodging by a professional local guide in a comfortable passenger van. Your journey follows one of Alaska’s most scenic routes along the Seward Highway and Turnagain Arm, with sightseeing stops at Potter Marsh Bird Sanctuary, Beluga Point, and Bird Point.
In Portage Valley, you’ll visit Explorer Glacier, Middle Glacier, and Byron Glacier before boarding the M/V Ptarmigan for a one-hour glacier cruise on Portage Lake. Enjoy incredible views of surrounding glaciers and dramatic alpine landscapes, with Portage Glacier as the highlight.
Please note: while transportation and guiding are private, the glacier cruise portion is a shared vessel experience and may include other guests.
After the cruise, your group may choose to stop for an optional sit-down lunch at a local restaurant or café. The tour then continues to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, where you’ll explore the 200-acre facility and view Alaska’s iconic wildlife in spacious natural habitats.
Additional customization options may include time to explore the town of Girdwood, optional light walking or short hikes, or an Alyeska Aerial Tram ride for panoramic views of Turnagain Arm (tram tickets not included). The itinerary and pacing can be adjusted throughout the day to fit your group’s interests.
